Social Security Monthly Information Package

Despite the challenges that government and businesses face at this time, we want people to know we remain ready and able to help them by phone with most Social Security matters.

You can speak with a representative by calling your local Social Security office or our National 800 Number (1-800-772-1213).  We provide local office phone numbers conveniently online with our Social Security Office Locator.

Although our offices are not providing service for walk-in visitors, we may be able to schedule an appointment for limited, critical issues if we cannot help someone by phone and if they cannot get the information they need or conduct their business online.

Call or take advantage of our secure and convenient online services to:

  • Apply for Retirement, Disability, and Medicare benefits,
  • Check the status of an application or appeal,
  • Request a replacement Social Security card (if they have an online my Social Security account)
  • Print a benefit verification letter, and
  • Much more.

Most business with SSA can be done online but we know that many people still rely on phone or in-person help.  You can still count on us by phone.

Lastly, we know that getting medical and other documentation can be difficult due to the pandemic.  We continue to extend deadlines wherever possible.

Our office is at: 134 S Fourth St, Easton Pa 18042-8042

Senior Medicare Patrol and Medicare Scams Awareness

Please be advised that there is a significant amount of Medicare fraud and Scams that are currently occurring. The Administration for Community Living would like to advise individuals on services offered through Senior Medicare Patrol to prevent, protect and investigate Medicare Fraud amongst those Medicare beneficiaries.

Scammers are offering Medicare beneficiaries "free" screenings or cheek swabs for genetic testing to obtain their Medicare information for identity theft or fraudulent billing purposes. Fraudsters are targeting beneficiaries through telemarketing calls, booths at public events, health fairs, and door-to-door visits. Charles said that Good Samaritans of America, an alleged charity, is fraudulent and should be reported to Office of Inspector General. Visit https://oig.hhs.gov/fraud/hotline or call 1.899.447.8477.

SMP strongly encourages people to review their explanation of benefit and Medicare Summary Notices. If you should have any concerns, need help disputing an insurance charge or need to report a fraud contact 1.877.SMP.4359. You can visit their website at www.seniormedicarepatrolnj.org. To request a presentation on Medicare fraud and Scams that are currently occurring across the Country and NJ, please reach out to our office.

How to Recognize Heat Stress in Seniors and What You Can Do

At LeadingAge New Jersey, we are hunkering down for the dog days of summer. Seniors are more prone to heat stress than younger people for several reasons. Older adults do not adjust as well to sudden changes in temperature. They are also more likely to have a chronic medical condition that changes normal body responses to heat. They may also take prescription medicines that impair the body's ability to regulate its temperature or that inhibit perspiration.
